Activity Professionals Week this year is January 19th – 25th. Queen City Elder Care is proud to work with Kim Weber, a Nationally Certified Activity Director (ADC). She is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). Here is an excerpt of her latest project with one of Queen City Elder Care’s lovely clients.
“I have the honor of going into the private homes of our clients and offering meaningful activities that can be therapeutic and fun. Bringing a sense of purpose and accomplishment to our clients is very rewarding for both myself and the client. Pictured here is a wreath made by an 83-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s. The look on her husband’s face when he saw what his wife had made was a look of astonishment and pride.”
Research shows that activities can help a patient with any form of Dementia in many ways such as:
- Decrease depression
- Improve social skills and self-esteem
- Maintain skills
- Opportunity for fun and interaction
